Multidisciplinary Cancer Conferences (MCC) - Introduction

MCC data, currently captured by the Surgical Oncology Program, encompasses process measures, which includes: presence of a MCC disease site chair, presence of a MCC Coordinator, prospective patient case review, MCCs scheduled on a weekly/biweekly basis, attendance of essential disciplines (surgeon, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, radiologist, pathologist, nurse), and the number of patient cases discussed. For lower volume centres, the extent of MCC participation is also captured (e.g. never, once in a while, on a regular basis). The data collected provides a picture of MCC standards concordance throughout the regions and across the Province.  MCC Regional Coordinators have the responsibility of maintaining and submitting data, which is collected by the Surgical Oncology Program, for Quarters 1 and 3. Data collection is currently captured in a MCC Excel Data Sheet - tool used by MCC Coordinators to enter relevant MCC data requirements.

Data elements collected from the regions will expand over time, as additional process and impact measures are identified.
