• C = Curative: Systemic/Radiation Treatment to Primary Disease, where main aim is long-term survival.
• A = Adjuvant: Systemic/Radiation Treatment to Primary Disease, an adjunct to potentially curative local treatment.
• N = Neoadjuvant: Systemic/Radiation Treatment to Primary Disease, an adjunct given prior to potentially curative local treatment.
• P = Palliative: Systemic/Radiation Treatment to metastatic Disease, where main aim is to ameliorate symptoms, recognizing that some patients have prolonged disease control and survival from treatment.
Applicable to Radiation Treatment Only:
1 = A treatment to the original (primary) site of the disease
2 = A treatment to a secondary (metastatic) site of the disease
NOTE: Valid values '1' and '2' are permissible effective January 2021 while the previous valid values 'C', 'P', 'A' or 'N' for the 'intent of radiation treatment' field will be decommissioned April 2021.
