Introduction

The Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) is a screening test for people at average risk for getting colorectal cancer. FIT replaced the guaiac fecal occult blood test (gFOBT) in June 2019.

The data collected by the CCC Program is used to generate provincial, regional and provider-level screening indicators, as well as indicators that measure screening program quality, efficiency, and effectiveness. These indicators are compared across Ontario regions and internationally. The data collected via the Data Submission Portal (DSP) is used to communicate FIT results to the CCC Program participants.

The FIT data elements captured in the DSP can be found in the subchapter, “FIT”.
